Stay away, buy a car first
I have had some bad experiences with the renting of the vehicle like the first time I was charged like 200 something dollars for gas when I took the car back full and clean but over all I would never use another company Avis is hassle free renting and now the staff there are nice and very helpful when turning in the vehicle making sure my online quote is what I am being charged I have used Avis for about a year or more and love it!
By far the worst Avis I've been to, watch your bills. They'll tack on roadside assistance fees, fuel fees and charge you for an upgrade when THEY run out of the car you reserved.
We had a fantastic customer experience here. We visited late on the evening of the 21st September, having experienced a slow tire leak on our Payless rental (sister company to Avis). Despite difficulties with the computer system between the two companies, the guy at the counter went above and beyond to get us into a new car as fast as possible. Couldn't have been more helpful! Thanks so much.
Worst experience ever. Ordered a full size sedan only to find out when we arrived that they gave it away. "Upgraded" us to a truck (that we did not want and didn't fit the purpose we needed). The truck had a crime scene inside (dried blood all over the roof) and expired tags. The tiny rude hobbit behind the counter was less than accommodating. She told us to come back another day to get a car similar to that of one that we originally asked for. Upon coming back another day, after she asked "what do you want?," we finally got into a Jeep Compass (which again is not what we ordered originally and did not fit our need). This vehicle also had dried blood all over the roof. What the hell is going on in Roswell, NM? Perhaps the police should investigate why people are being murdered in Avis cars from Roswell. The hobbit is almost certainly up to no good. But I digress... so we then travel to Flagstaff, AZ. We try to get out of this compass again because we need a full size sedan. Both Avis locations in Flagstaff also could not accommodate our original booking. Called corporate and was told that we could bring the car back without a full tank of gas and would be credited for 2 days. The moral of the story, whatever you do, DO NOT rent an Avis car especially in the southwest US.
