I was very pleased at the prices and have to say that the museum was a lot of fun. Our 3 year old daughter had a great time and was really excited walking around it while she looked at the aliens. They even gave her a pack of some great items that she is treasuring that include a little alien toy, crayons, coloring book, and a few other fun items. She felt important and loved that feeling.
I had an amazing time at this awesome museum! My favorite feature was the research rooms where books of historical UFO sightings were shelved. What an amazing place! Well worth the visit if you are in Roswell!
I thought the gift shop had a good mix of hokey and cheaper items, with some actually somewhat better quality items than the usual gift shop. I just about bought a nice baseball cap with a cool alien logo on the front.
For the price of admission, this museum is awesome, and I am glad we went slightly out of our way on the road trip heading towards the White Sands Nat. Monument to stop in Roswell. The town itself doesn't disappoint with the alien theme up Main Street, and this museum was a good amount of fun, even for the rational skeptics such as myself.
Very neat gift shop and a library to get lost in. I'd say go and check it out.
The museum itself takes about an hour to go through, I forget the price of admission, but I think it was about $10. It's a nice little detour. Very quirky.
"Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free" - John 8:32
All in all, this museum is good for some fun and laughs along the way. I think the owners and those that have set up the displays seem to have a good eye for appealing to the alien encounters type crowd without being too serious about it.
I liked the information panels on the various encounters (classification of close encounters of the first, second, and third kind, for example), the documents from the "researchers" in this field, and a scattering of hokey alien statue displays. I was expecting a documentary style summary of the Roswell Incident in the theater room, but instead we found the Hollywood movie covering the incident. Still, it got me to watch a bit, because it was a good part showing the military taking away a doctor for questioning.
Also, all the evidence left behind by these other worldly beings really brings into question both the competence of these travelers and what criteria was used to screen potential space travel candidates. Because, when the aliens send us their people, they're not sending they're best. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing abductions, they're bringing probes. They're gray. And some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to the CIA and they tell us what we're getting.
The evidence is overwhelming. Writings, first hand encounters, crashed spaceships. A skeptic going in, a believer I came out. The people who still do not believe choose to do so, for they fear the truth-that we are not alone. They've been here. They've always been here.
I have been to this museum a few times when I still lived in New Mexico. I don't know of the authenticity of the material, but if you're in the area or have guests from out of state stop by. It is definitely interesting.
